If you clicked on this post because you’re desperate to increase self confidence after having babies, you’re not alone. You’re also not the only one dressed like Adam Sandler on a daily basis, may or may not have showered in days, and can’t remember the last time you did your hair or makeup.

When you become a mom, the time you used to spend on doing things to increase self confidence is now being spent chasing after your little babies and catching up on z’s.

But here’s a valuable lesson I learned from being a mom of 3, a reusable zip-lock bag mommy (c-section mom :)), and a 3x postpartum depression survivor.

Neglecting yourself and putting yourself on the back burner is not helping anyone or anything.

25 Ways To Increase Self Confidence Even As A Mom

There are so many different ways to boost your confidence and to feel good in your own skin again.

1. Start A Skincare Routine

There’s nothing better than clear skin to increase self confidence and self-esteem. I go over my skincare secrets to healthier skin in this post.

Starting a skincare routine can be as simple as purchasing a skin refreshing face wash and incorporating it first thing in the morning and before bed. I love a good skincare routine and mine usually consists of a toner, vitamin c serum, hyaluronic acid, and a water gel moisturizer.

2. Get your hair done

Whether you get a fresh trim, color refresh, or a whole new hairstyle and color – getting your hair done can be exactly what you need to feel good about yourself.

3. Do Your Makeup

Stop what you’re doing and walk into your bathroom and apply makeup. My 3 year old loves playing dress up and having me do her hair and makeup. It makes her feel so confident (not that she needs any of this) and sometimes we need to follow our toddler’s lead.

No one needs makeup but sometimes applying makeup is what makes some of us feel more confidence than when we are bare-faced.

4. Get Whitening Strips

One of many things I am personally self-conscious about is my teeth. And that’s because I used to have perfectly straight, white teeth after 4 years of wearing heavy metal braces. Then, one day my plastic retainers broke and my teeth shifted really bad.

But I used whitening strips to increase self confidence even with my crooked teeth 🙂

5. Take A Daily Shower

Taking daily showers can be pretty close to impossible for some of us moms depending on what stages of our babies are in. But if you prioritize a nice, hot daily shower, I guarantee you will feel so much better.

6. Exercise

You probably already know this but exercising greatly reduces stress hormones while stimulating the production of endorphins. And if you’re not sure what endorphins are, they are neurotransmitters that trigger a positive feeling in the body.

And with regular exercise you’ll see physical improvements in your body to increase self confidence and boost your mood.

7. Go For A Run

Running will give you a euphoric feeling after getting past the deathly stage lol. You know when you feel really good after a good workout or run but felt like crap during? That’s what I’m talking about and also running will tone you up!

8. Do Your Nails

Doing your nails or getting them done somewhere is an obvious way to increase self confidence. Who doesn’t like getting pampered?

9. Stop Eating Fried Foods

I know this can be a really hard one for some of us (like myself). But eating fried foods leave you feeling sluggish and gross. And that’s because it’s pretty dang bad for you. It gives you high blood pressure, cause high cholesterol, and contains large amounts of calories that leads to weight gain and low self-esteem.

10. Limit Your Sugar Intake

According to the American Academy of Dermatology Association, when your blood sugar spikes, it causes inflammation throughout your body, and these spikes also cause your body to make more sebum, an oily substance in your skin. Both inflammation and excess sebum can lead to acne.

All of this to say that eating more sugar is not going to help boost your confidence because of 2 things- acne and weight gain.

I know I’m not the only woman that feels brand new after getting her brows waxed.

13. Get Lashes

I get my lash extensions filled every two weeks because it helps me increase self confidence. Without them, I feel bare and ugly because I’m not a makeup girl. All I know to do is put some powder on my face and add eyeliner to my eyelids. That’s also why my eyebrows are tattoo’d.

Moisturizing your body, your face, your hands, your feet, and your elbows (yes, I said elbows) can make you feel more put together in a sense.

15. Buy Clothes That Flatter Your Body To Increase Self Confidence

Talk about self-love. Write a list of positive attributes both physically, mentally, and emotionally about yourself. And keep it in a safe place where you can refer back to when you are feeling low.

17. Stop Comparing Yourself To Others

This can be so hard especially in the kind of social media-obsessed life we currently live. Where beauty is defined by animated filters and one standard of appearance rather than our diverse, natural, and unique beauty.

Sometimes what you need to do is prevent yourself from being around it by removing yourself form following people or posts that hinder your self-confidence, spend less time on social media, and more time taking the steps to love yourself.

18. Dress Up And Go On A Girls Night Out

It’s not the easiest task getting a night away from your babies. But that doesn’t mean it’s impossible or that you should continue letting it be a difficult task. Get a babysitter or ask a family member to watch your babies so you can get dolled up and have fun with your girlfriends for a night.

19. Shave

Spend a night taking a nice bubble bath and end it with a whole-body shave. And don’t forget to moisturize when you get out.

20. Dance In Your Underwear

Dancing in your underwear will not only increase self confidence but it will fuel your soul. Turn up your favorite dance music and just dance off your anxiety, stress, and worries away.

21. Smile And Laugh More

There’s nothing more contagious than a smile (okay it might be a close tie with a yawn). But watch a funny movie, read a funny book, watch funny Tik Tok videos. Create reasons to smile and laugh more and feed your soul with happiness and joy.

22. Be Confident

This whole post is about ways to increase self confidence. And sometimes it’s as simple as finding your inner confidence and bringing it out.

Whether you go on a date with your husband, partner, or Tinder date (depending on your status), just get yourself out there.

24. Wear A Little Black Dress

Feel hot in little black dress. Boost your confidence and maybe spend each day of the month doing one or two of these things on this list.

25. Be Positive

It’s much easier said than done. But it begins with the initiative to want to be positive. And over time you will train yourself to think positive, be positive, and surround yourself with positive people. Let go of anyone that brings negativity in your life.

Final Thoughts

I hope this list of ways to increase self confidence and boost your self image was encouraging. Don’t forget that you’re so much more than just a mom and deserve to be the best version of yourself in every phase of your life.
