Good skin comes with good genetics. But that doesn’t mean you’re completely screwed out of luck if you don’t have the best genes in the world for healthy, clear skin. In this blog post, I wanted to go over 12 Asian skincare secrets that a lot of women tend to be curious about. I say Asian because well, I’m of Asian descent. And two, it’s a known fact that Asians tend to have really nice skin.

Yeah. It probably sucks knowing that one person in particular that can get away with not ever washing their face or using any skincare products and their skin glows naturally. But consider them a unicorn.

So what is the secret sauce? Is it genetics? Is it expensive skincare products? Keep reading to find out more.

12 Asian Skincare Secrets

There’s not really anything secretive about a solid, skincare routine. But I guess the secret part about it is knowing what products to use. And trust me, I don’t spend very much at all on my skincare products nor do I purchase big celebrity brands.

1. Wash your face first thing in the morning

Always wash your face in the morning with warm to hot water. Warmer water helps open up those pores and in combination with a facial cleanser is going to help clear and waken your face up first thing in the morning.

These facial cleansers are the two of my go-to facial cleaners from Neutrogena that I like to go back and forth with. And you honestly can’t go wrong with either of them.

2. Wash your face before bedtime

Practice what you do in the mornings at night before you go to sleep. You don’t ever want to go to bed without cleansing your face. Think about trapped oil in your pores that can potentially create unwanted pimples. I use the same cleanser I use in the mornings at night.

3. Use a face masque

Out of all of the skincare products I purchase, my face masque is the most expensive. And it’s still not nearly as expensive as other face masques out there.

The reason why I always use this face masque is that this skincare line is what my mom used at the day spa that she owned. And I’ve been using it for over 10 years and absolutely love it.

The last thing you might want to do is slather on a moisturizer if you have oily skin. But that’s why they made water-based moisturizers and oil-free moisturizers. Switching my cream moisturizers for a water-based moisturizer was one of the best skincare moves I’ve made.

8. Always wear sunscreen

Exposure to UV rays is cumulative and causes the skin to age by breaking down the skin’s collagen. So it’s very important to always wear sunscreen prior to going outside.

9. Put on retinol cream before bed

Retinol cream benefits include preventing wrinkles and smooth out existing wrinkles. It also helps regulate oily skin and minimize current and future breakouts. I only use my retinol cream during my nightly skin routine.

10. Drink a ton of water

It’s no surprise that drinking a ton of water is one of the Asian skincare secrets. Water is the number 1 beverage in any Asian household. And with adequate hydration, you’re bound to reap the benefits of water such as weight loss, improved skin elasticity, increased energy level, and more.

Your body repairs itself when during sleep including your skin. And this is the time your skin makes new collagen.
